Ways to earn PDUs

PDU's can be earned in a variety of ways. Some of these are:

  • Attend a professional development course offered through the Chapter. These events will be registered by the Chapter and will be displayed in the PMI list of authorized events for which you can claim credit. The Chapter will identify how many credits you can claim.
  • Attend a professional development course offered by any authorized training organization. It will be up to the training organization to identify how you will claim credits for taking their courses.
  • Attend a Chapter program event such as a Dinner Meeting or Lunch 'n' Learn or Breakfast 'n' Learn.
  • Volunteer as a Mentor to help other PMs.
  • Volunteer your time with the chapter. The chapter will provide details about the PDUs you can earn based upon each opportunity.
  • Participate in the CEPS (Certification Examination Preparation Seminar) program in either an administrative or teaching role. Note: CEPS is PMI-VI's course that we offer to prepare members to take the PMP examination and also provides the 35 credits required to become certified.
  • Server as a Board of Directors member of PMI-VI.
  • Attend PMI events such as regional meetings and Global Congresses.

For specific and up-to-date information on ways you can earn PDU's please visit the PMI Global website - Earn PDUs (http://www.pmi.org/pages/Ten_Ways_to_Earn_PDUs.aspx).

How many PDUs?

The number of PDUs earned is based upon either an hourly basis for events or by specific amounts for roles or activities. For events like dinners, courses, or meetings, the general rule is that you earn1 PDU for each hour spent at the activity. These are prorated for 1/2 hours. For activities, the number of PDUs are determined as required.

PMI-VI attempts to keep the information about PDUs up to date but it is your responsibility to ensure that you are accurately informed. For up to date and official information about maintaining your credentials as a PMP and PDU information, please refer to PMI's PMP Credentials Handbook.
